Plan for a Bad Week: Fatigue Patients

Note: A “Bad Week” in this program refers to a period when you are not able to fulfill normal obligations. It can be just a couple of days, or a much longer time period.
Who It’s For: Every week is different for someone with fatigue. You might have had a stressful week at work and be exhausted by the end of each workday. You might have an infection that wipes you out. You might be having one of these really Bad Weeks for no apparent reason. The last thing you need during these times is stress, and yet there is nothing more stressful than not being able to take care of all the things you need to do. Meanwhile, when you are having a Bad Week, you need to focus on yourself, your health and getting better. This program will help you do that.
What You’ll Do: For the next four weeks, you’ll spend time each day planning and strategizing a way to deal with a Bad Week. You’ll list all your obligations and responsibilities and make decisions about what to do during a Bad Week. The goal will be for you to be able to take a week off to recharge yourself without worrying about everything else. The skills you’ll work on are:
Results to Expect: One of the greatest fears of anyone with fatigue is not being able to do everything you need to. Rather than have that fear, you will have taken an action by putting together a plan to help if you every have a really Bad Week. This way, you take control of your fatigue and can minimize the amount it interferes with your life. You’ll feel better immediately – even if you never use the plan.
